good is good… right?

The worst enemy of the BEST is GOOD.

Man is this a sentence that has changed my perspective on living forever.

Okay, I’m going to have to say it… the classic ‘you only live once’ because man is that true. We really do only live once on this earth… because that’s enough, IF we are wise on how we live it. I mean why live it good when we can live it the best way we are capable of. This means discovering what living to the fullness of life means for us, because I see it too often, we can be so content in what we have now we cover the possibility to understanding there is more waiting out there for us. Here are just two aspects of our lives that we can be so content with we forget to live ambitiously.

Love. Love is something that is expressed in all shapes and forms. The love of a friend. The love of a mother. The love of that special someone. But all love works the same but differently. As the dictionary announces it, love is ‘a strong feeling of affection’. Notice here it doesn’t say ‘a life long, positive strong feeling of affection that brings joy, peace and respect to that other person.’ The world is taught from Oxford standards to simply find love at a level of ‘strong feelings of affection’. RELABEL. Love is this and much more. And this is what we should be striving to achieve… a love that’s unconditional. Don’t settle for anything less. no matter what you have done and where you have been. You deserve love.

Career. Urban dictionary says a career is ‘an occupation undertaken for a significant period of a person’s life and with opportunities for progress.’ Now career’s is a tough one because I don’t think anyone aspires to be a Bin man in their lives (good on you if you do though) but that job needs to be done by someone. In an ideal word we would all have jobs we love, with enough jobs for every living soul, but we know that isn’t reality so what should a career realistically look like… you notice how it doesn’t say ‘an occupation undertaken for the rest of a persons life’? that’s because I believe we should never stay in one place for the rest of our lives that it become as normal as breathing or blinking because that’s good but not the best. The world offers so many occupations why not explore them. Now I’m not saying that we should move from job to job because some people may truly love what they are doing so much that it’s as if they don’t work at all. But it also says in urban dictionary that a career should have a opportunities to progress. If you aren’t progressing financially or even as a person. Get out of there as soon as you can. Find a job where even when you retire, your passion for what you do will never end.

Now the list is endless of things you can add or subtract to ensure you are living the best life you are capable of. Lets relabel this whole thing. Good is not good, because you are missing out on the best.

First Impressions

Should we judge a book by its cover?

Lets get real. We all do this. No matter how much we despise the saying or the thought process. Its something we naturally do. Label people.

But let’s make it loud and clear. It’s perfectly okay to judge a book by its cover, as long as we aren’t blind to see whats on the inside. Let me explain.

When you choose a book in a store, you chose the one that looks most appealing to you. I mean come on, an author has chosen to portray his book with whats on the front, so we should use that. The same with people. If they are portraying a negative vibe, we are most likely to stay away as we don’t want to associate with this emotion, as whats on the front often portrays whats on the inside. The mood. The genre. The creativity explored. Different books appeal to different people. What you find fascinating and exciting, the person to your right might find boring and uninviting. this is the benefits of having a population so unique from one another, every book is appreciated by someone.

Now how does this apply to our everyday labelling? The fact is this. You don’t have to like every one and every version of how someone wishes to portray themselves. That would be a fake way of going about life. However we shouldn’t be so fixated on the cover that we don’t open up our hearts to at least giving the book a read for a few chapters or so. See where it goes, how it makes you feel. You might surprise yourself. And if it’s not for you. Never throw it away. Never use someone and then treat them like they don’t have any value of this world. Keep that book in your life safely stored away, because someone you know might fall in love with those pages you respectfully put at the side and didn’t misuse. You’ve got to make sure to still show love and respect on this book, because this gives that person the opportunity to read every chapter of this book with nothing being torn or damaged.

You know what’s fascinating? We are told that we are the authors of our own lives. Authors are never subjected to writing one story. When someone is truly passionate for creatively exploring emotions through a story, they could find themselves writing for days… but not every book can be a best seller. Its okay if you find yourself with a cover over your life that isn’t how you want to be expressed. To have words on a page of your mind process, understanding that it isn’t in a good place right now and others around are so invested in you they are also living what they read. But guess what my friend. Your next book will be a best seller. You have recognised where you have gone wrong and now it’s time you use that as a testimony in the way you write this next book of yours in this next season of life you are in.

Lets relabel this whole thing then. Where we embrace our natural instinct to judge a book by its cover, but don’t let it define how we treat that Story, because you never know, that Authors next book could be a best seller.

What is Life?

What is life.

Like what is it really.

Because I don’t know about you but I can find myself walking around the smallest of places and still feel so small in this world that holds over 7.4 billion people within it’s arms .

All I’m seeing at the moment is life portrayed to be lived well when we have over 10K followers on Instagram, with a new outfit on every post, eating out and drinking every night of our lives. Life is portrayed to be fulfilled when we have that special someone to hold us when we can hardly pick ourselves up. Life is perceived as exciting when we have more friends than the amount of times we blink in a day. Life is seen as perfection when we are caught up wishing to be anyone but ourselves. Life is portrayed to be better when we are always wanting more. Always. Life is having a mum, dad, and a sibling, all living under the same roof. Life is labelled ‘to exist for people to love you.’

Now let me tell you something. It’s great to be loved, to love, to party, to have lots of friends, to have a ‘perfect’ family. But come on now. There is no such thing as perfect.

Lets Relabel this expectancy of living life.

Live a life where you are satisfied whether you have 5 or 500 followers. Because the amount of followers won’t affect the amount of influence you have. Don’t let the number of your followings subject the voice you carry. Authentic Leadership changes people’s worlds, not necessarily THE world.

Live a life through your own lens. One where you accept you are flawed. The opposite of perfect. But there is no one else you would want to be more than yourself. Because you are strong, determined and passionate.

Live a life where you break expectations of searching for true love in others but hardly know the value of yourself. Forget the ‘finding someone to hold yourself up when you are weak’.  That is your job. To learn how to walk again. Don’t spend your life searching for someone else’s love to fill missing voids in your hearts, when all this time you have carried that love that will not only fill up the holes but overflow them.

Live a life with friends that inspire you. That encourage you and friends that live by a loyalty code. Allow your circle of friends to decrease in size, but increase in value. Surely you’ve heard ‘quality is better than quantity.

Live a life where you accept your past but don’t let it define your future.

Live a life where even when the two people who should love you most on this earth have failed you, you wont fail them. Don’t let their mistakes determine yours. Don’t let the lack of love you have felt define how much you love.

Live your life. This is life.

Lets Relabel this whole thing.

Labels is an identity or form of description we associate ourselves most with.

I mean. I don’t blame us.

Everything around us is labelled either Good or Bad. Right or Wrong. Forgiven or Forgotten. The centre of which our culture revolves around is labels. Now we can’t extinguish them, but we can Relabel. To Relabel means to Label something differently. A label determines how much worth an item is. I believe this world and you whom lives in it is worth a whole lot of value. You are the brand of all brands. Labels can be something that creates limits, but the correct labels on your life can also be a beautiful thing when sewed into your heart and mind process. So lets talk about that. Lets talk about what real Living means. Not of which the world tells us. But of which our souls cry out for.

This is Living.
